Bitte trefft in diesem Fall Eure eigenen wohlüberlegten Kaufentscheidungen!

Alwi the turtle

Hi there,

here is my new turtle. I made it as a part of the march CAL of the amigurumi addicts on ravelry. The theme was: green!

So here it is: Alwi

Material:
  • cotton Yarn in light green and dark green, acrylic yarn in green and acrylic yarn in different green and blue colours (multicoloured yarn). Every yarn was bought at a dicounter and is a no-name-product. So take whatever you find for hook Nr. 4-5
  • hook nr. 3,5
  • scissors
  • yarn needle
  • fibrefill
  • safety eyes 0,8 cm

Abbreviations: (US terms)
slst- slip stitch
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
dc- double crochet
tc- treble crochet
st- stitch
rd- round

The shell:

The shell is made out of 7 hexagons. That's the way you make a hexagon:

1.: 6 sc in Magic Ring with the multi- coloured yarn
2.: 2 sc in each st (12). change to light- green
3.: (dc, 2 sc in next st)x6 (18). change to dark green
4.: (dc into dc of rd. 3, hdc and sc into next st, hdc)x6 (24).

Fasten off and weave in ends.

When you made all 7 hexagons, you conntec them by slst. One hexagon in the middle, the other 6 in a circle around.

I did not cut off the yarn after connecting the last hexagon. Strictly go ahead with the outer part.

The outer part: worked in the rd.

1.: (ch 4 (instead of a tc), 2 dc, 2 hdc, 4 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc)x6 (84)
2.: sc in front loops only(84)
3.: sx (84)
4.: (sc, sc, sc over next 2 st) all around in front loops only (63)

Fasten off yarn, leave long tail (60 cm). Sew the edge like seen on the picture.

The head, in rd., in green

1.: 6 sc in Magic Ring
2.: (2 sc in next st)x6 ( 12 )
3.:(sc, 2 sc in next st)x6 ( 18 )
4.: (2 sc, 2 sc in next st)x6 ( 24)
5.: (3 sc, 2 sc in next st)x6 ( 30)
6.: (4 sc, 2 sc in next st)x6 ( 36)
7. bis 10.: sc( 36)
11.: (4 sc, decrease)x6 (30)
12.: (3 sc, decrease)x6 (24)
13.: (2 sc, decrease)x6 (18). Fix the safety eyes and fill with fibrefill.
14.: ( sc, decrease)x6 (12)
15.-18.: sc (12)
Fill the neck to 2/3 with fibrefill. Fasten off.

The legs, 4x, in rd, green, :

1.: 4 sc in Magic Ring
2.: (sc, 2 sc in next st) ( 6)
3.:  (2 sc, 2 sc in next st) ( 8)
4.:  (2 sc, 2 sc in next st) ( 12)
5.:  (3 sc, 2 sc in next st) ( 15)
6.-10.: sc ( 15)
Fill with fibrefill, fold together at the end and work two more rows sc (7 sc)

Now it is the time to sew head and legs to the shell. Begin with the head, at one hexagon, fixed inside at the back loops of r. 2 of the outer part of the shell. Then on the right hand and the left hand side of the head, at the next hexagons the legs, similar to the head. If you have yarn ends left, you can close the little hole between the tc of the outer part of the shell. So you can avoid that fiberfill is coming out.

The bottom, green, in rd.:

1.: 6 sc in magic ring
2.: (2 sc in next st) (12)
3.:  (sc, 2 sc in next st) (18)
4.:   (2 sc, 2 sc in next st) (24)
5.:   (3 sc, 2 sc in next st) (30)
6.:   (4 sc, 2 sc in next st) (36)
7.:   (5 sc, 2 sc in next st) (42)
8.:   (6 sc, 2 sc in next st) (48)
9.:   (7 sc, 2 sc in next st) (54)
10.:  (8 sc, 2 sc in next st) (60)
11.:  (9 sc, 2 sc in next st) (66)

Fasten off, leave long tail-. Sew bottom to the shell. Fill with fibrefill while you are going.
